New Saban Comments

I know…. I’ve been missing in action recently. I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July.

I don’t think I’ve seen this around anywhere, so I figured it is worth sharing. These are the first comments from Saban regarding character development and discipline -since his original statement on the Jimmy Johns drug bust- via WSFA NBC 12 of Montgomery, AL:

“The only thing that we can continue to do is to continue to have programs that build character in our program. We have an extension drug testing program right now. We do a lot of character development type stuff. We have a sport psychiatrist, a sports psychologist. We have a learning institute that came in this summer that does a character development and self image class that our entire team is involved in.

There are two things that we can do to improve our program. We have to improve the level of performance in the players that we have, in terms of developing them as people and as football players. The judgement they use off the field is going to carry on off the field. We have to recruit better players, and have a plan to develop them. That is certainly what we are going to continue to try to do.”

In other news, Mark Gottfried begged for attention, and nobody gave it to him.

Oh, and an editors note, I will be doing a guide for all of Alabama’s road games, so I ask you rivals fans for your help in helping me write my guides. I need good places to eat, places to see, and important campus sites ASAP. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Druid!
Saban is doing the right things. I dont know about most Bama fans, but I know that the program was in horrible shpae when he took it over, and Saban does have a reputation as being a rainmaker. I think he is doing a great job and it will start showing in the next 12 months.
