Saturday Links of Interest

Nothing much is happening in Tuscaloosa today. Hoover, on the other hand, is happening. Capstone Report is on top of this story.

There are plenty of rumors surrounding the Hoover situation. I don’t think it is wise to start pointing fingers until either: (A) someone directly involved with the situations talks, and, (B) the details are fully investigated and substantiated. If there are Alabama recruits involved, we will know sooner than later I imagine.

Well, there is one thing that is happening in Tuscaloosa. We’re still without a Baseball Coach after Jim Wells retired. So far the names that seem to be carrying the most weight are John Cohen (Kentucky), Bobby Pierce (Troy), and Mitch Gaspard (Northwestern State). There has been talk of Casey Dunn (Samford) in certain media outlets as well, but nothing is certain. Read more in The Press-Register.

All three seem to have a connection that makes them viable options. Cohen is an alum of Tuscaloosa Academy. Pierce is an alum of Alabama. Gaspard is a part of the Northwestern State family; Coach Wells is also a part of that family.

In none sporting news, we have a new ‘World’s Ugliest Dog‘ contest winner. This lovely pup is named Elwood.

He’s probably a cool dog, but gosh, I don’t think he’ll be in any sort of breeder’s championship. At least his owner is excited (yes, that is drool coming from his mouth, opposite of his tongue).
